While I was in New York in October 2024, I was lucky enough to be invited to Johnny Depp's exhibition, "A bunch of stuff." The opening had been the night before but I reckon we went at the right time as Izzy, the curator, us a personal tour!

We headed over to the arts district and arrived at an impressive and visually appealing building where the exhibition was housed.

I didn't know Johnny Depp painted, so I went in with an open mind. I was immediately taken by the absence of white walls. I loved that the display of his work was just as creative as the work itself.

I loved the low lighting, gorgeous red material and intoxicating music. You got a peep at what was coming in a very unique and intriguing way.

There were finished works, works in progress, spaces that were set up to show what his working studio spaces looked like.

You were given a glimpse into his working spaces.

I was especially taken with this part of the exhibition where little snippets of the artists life was displayed in a way in which it kept it all safe, but gave us an insight into the mind of Johnny Depp.

The Black Box was a room in which you watched an outstanding video presentation in which Johnny Depp talked about his artistic life. I honestly can't describe how amazing the experience was!

I was delighted at some of the displays in which his personal effects where on (his) coffee tables and in his work desks. It certainly had a 'cabinet of curiosity' about it! And as this is the theme for Book Camp this year, it was an unexpected bonus!

And that typewriter, well. Just gorgeous!

If you're in or around New York and have an opportunity to visit the exhibition I highly recommend it. For me, it was more than just his work it was the outstanding curation of the work that made me stop in my tracks. This was a team effort. It was more than just looking at an artists work, it was an experience. From this perspective, it's the most inspired I've been in years by a visit to a gallery.
A massive shout out and thank you to the lovely curator, Izzy who did a superb job - wow, wow, wow!
